Environmental Impacts of Renewable Insulation Materials

According to the IEA Global Status Report for Buildings and Construction 2019, one of main industry sectors causing environmental impacts is construction sector. Hence, materials from renewable resources are expected have a large potential decrease these impacts. In this study, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) was conducted four different insulation feedstock: made pasture grass, seaweed, reed, recycled jute fibres. Additionally, effects on land use change were evaluated grass using LANCA® methodology. To put LCA results in relation those non-renewable resources, comparison standardized values conventional presented. general, show fewer than their counterparts. particular, advantages regarding greenhouse gas emissions impact climate change. Of analyzed materials, seaweed showed overall lowest emissions. It can be concluded that non-mineral, non-fossil, non-wooden still fairly niche terms market share, but they extraordinary decreasing ventures.
